Founded in November 2017, PLEATSMAMA was created to serve conscious consumers who embrace an eco-friendly lifestyle and a thoughtful approach to personal wellbeing. We go beyond aesthetics to advocate for a beautiful, sustainable way of life, designing fashionable products through manufacturing processes that ensure zero waste.

Innovation in Sustainable Materials
At our core is a deep commitment to resource preservation. We craft our signature bags entirely from domestically discarded materials, including PET bottles, fishing nets, clothing, and bedding. This approach drastically cuts carbon emissions and diverts waste from landfills. To further enhance our environmental impact, we employ advanced techniques such as the dopedyeing method, which colors yarn directly to avoid wastewater, and the use of biobased yarns sourced from renewable resources.

Advanced, WasteFree Manufacturing
PLEATSMAMA sets itself apart through the Whole Garment Method. Unlike conventional production that involves cutting and sewing fabrics, a process that generates substantial textile waste, each of our bags is knitted and shaped as a single, complete piece. This innovative technique eliminates fabric scraps from the cutting stage, ensuring a truly zero-waste manufacturing process.

Low-Carbon and Ethical Supply Chain
We prioritize planetary health at every step of our operations. All recycling and production activities are carried out locally within Korea, significantly reducing transportation-related carbon emissions. Moreover, we minimize packaging by limiting the use of poly bags, cushioning materials, and printing inks, making our delivery process as environmentally responsible as our products.

In-House Research and Development
To maintain the highest standards of innovation and quality, we operate PLMA LAB, our dedicated R&D center. Equipped with four Shima Seiki flat knitting machines and two specialized WHOLEGARMENT machines, the lab provides full in-house capabilities for the design and development of all PLEATSMAMA products. This allows us to continuously refine our sustainable techniques and introduce forward-thinking solutions.
